Make Publishing Easier Today

That title sounds an awful like a sales pitch doesn’t it?  I mean, if you read it the way I did with a used car salesman’s voice echoing in your head.  Or maybe it is more of a “Sold on T.V.” advertisement title.  Either way, it makes it sound like I have found a way to make your ability to publish more often and with more consistency, easier.  And in a way I have.  Okay, maybe I haven’t personally found it, but I am going to be the one that broadcasts it.  And if you call in the next twenty minutes, I will even throw in an extra set of Ginsu knives.

Okay, there are no knives, and the secret I am about to tell you may even make you a bit… shall we say “miffed” at me.  You might feel as though I have built this up, and then let you down.  The reason is because, it is nothing new.  To lose weight, I know I need to exercise more and change my diet.  To have a better marriage, I need to put in the time with my wife to make sure I treat her better today than when I was courting her.  To be a better father, I have to take the time to be a disciplinarian at the right times and a friend at the right times.  To be a better employee, I have to make sure that while I am doing all of these other things, I continue to produce quality work and be a good leader and team member.

In short, all if these things require time.  This is true as well when it comes to your blog.  And there is the rub.  The big secret is… you have to make your blog a priority so you will give it the time it needs.  If you don’t make it a priority, you will always have the excuse of, “I don’t have time to blog right now.”  I told you, you would be mad at me.  In fact, you may have just closed this page before reading these lines.

But if you haven’t…

I have been blogging every day now for 28 days.  Every single day.  I was able to schedule my posts ahead of time, but even when I didn’t, I have made a commitment to blog every day this year.  Since I made blogging a priority, I make sure I find time to get a post done EVERY SINGLE DAY.  For over five years I have wanted to post regularly.  I never thought it would be daily, but at least once a week.  I saw guys like John Saddington, and Tom McFarlin posting almost every single day that I thought, no way could I do that.

Every time you say you don’t have the time, what you are saying is; I have not made blogging a priority and thus, I will not FIND the time to do it.

I know, who am I to talk.  I haven’t even hit a full month of publishing yet.  Fine, but what I can say is, once I decided that I would make it a priority to publish daily, and then decided to not make a big stink about doing it, I fell into a groove really quickly.  I am almost at the point now where I don’t have to MAKE it a priority, I just do it.  In fact, if I wait until the end of the day to sit down and write, I start to feel like my day is missing something.

If you take nothing else from this post, remember this.  Every time you say you don’t have the time, what you are saying is, I have not made blogging a priority and thus, I will not FIND the time to do it.  That is the secret in a nutshell.  You must make it a priority in order to make yourself FIND THE TIME.  It is so annoying to say this, but I am going to anyway since this is already an annoying post.  We all have the same twenty-four hours in the day.  If blogging is something you want to do, but honestly don’t want to make it a priority, then fine.  Maybe now isn’t the time for you to start.  But if you REALLY want to write and publish, then stop yourself from saying, “I don’t have time” and start finding the time because it is a priority for you.

I promise, you won’t regret it.

    1. Pretty much! Getting ahead on posts and having the luxury of writing something for that day or letting it go to the schedule queue makes blogging SO much easier. Just gotta get that queue going and it snowballs from there.
